The north aisle of the Market Hall, where six new traders have moved in since July.
For most of the last decade, the north aisle of the Market Hall was where the empty stalls went. Since July, six new traders have moved in, and on a Saturday lunchtime it’s now hard to find a seat.
Who’s there
Mama Ade’s: jollof rice and suya skewers, from £7
The Dumpling Stall: pork and chive dumplings, eight for £8
Northside Pizza: one oven, five pizzas, from £9
Hollis & Daughter: the town’s only fishmonger, now doing fish finger sandwiches at £6.50
The council cut stall rents by a third for new food traders this spring, and it seems to have worked. All six stalls are let until next summer, and two more traders are on the waiting list.
